a5c7b9f00b Follow the Four Horsemen in another crazy adventure as they take to the streets of Macau to pull off the craziest stunt yet in order to expose a new threat that tried to end them for good. Will they succeed again and expose this man or fail hopelessly and spend the rest of their years locked in jail?
One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public's adulation with their Robin Hood-style magic spectacles, The Four Horsemen resurface for a comeback performance in hopes of exposing the unethical practices of a tech magnate. The man behind their vanishing act is none other than Walter Mabry, a tech prodigy who threatens the Horsemen into pulling off their most impossible heist yet. Their only hope is to perform one last unprecedented stunt to clear their names and reveal the mastermind behind it all.
What seemed like another forced sequel, Now You See Me 2 is about the return of the 'Four Horsemen' and for them to pull off a heist before something worse happens to them. The plot is very similar to its predecessor but in my opinion there is no need to change something for the sake of change, it works and it works well. The majority of the cast return (minus Isla Fisher but is replaced by Lizzy Caplan who was a great addition) and whilst most of them are doing their job fine, some are more captivating (I'm looking at you Ruffalo and Radcliffe). The majority of twists and turns are predictable but that does not deter from what is an enjoyable flick. The magic is great and some of the scenes are so outlandishly ridiculous that you just go along with it (especially one scene involving a card and a search team...seriously genius). It does take a while for the film to get going but once in full motion, this 129 minute ride will fly by. Overall, a decent sequel that may have lost the mystery that its predecessor played with but the magic is still there for what I would consider an enjoyable flick.

Review at: http://www.themoviediorama.com

Who's to blame for this Part 2? "G.I Joe Retaliation," "Step Up" Director Jon M Chu, or "Now You See Me 2013" writer Ed Solomon? Oh, let me count the people. It's a shame when a rather intriguing original (with most main stars returning) goes so far off track with it's sequel. Sure the "slight of hand" antics are still present, but having so much explanation associated with most tricks is downright time consuming and boring. While Lizzy Caplan ("Master of Sex" - TV) steps in as the fourth Horsemen, her contributions are left to be the bubbling fourth wheel performing amateur magic diversions, "never stop smiling" Dave Franco's (original NYSM) trickery (stand behind the cards and toss playing cards) is boring at best, and Woody Harrelson's "two-part" performance is beyond positive explanation. Daniel Radcliffe steps in as the spoiled rich kid felon, yet somehow his character just doesn't matter, and could it be that I'm just tried of watching/hearing Jesse Eisenberg's always the same delivery? Okay, okay. NYSM 2 is just a movie, so let me step back and say "you won't see me" watching anymore of these (NYSM 3 has been announced).
Director Jon M. Chu has a lighter touch than “Now You See Me” director Louis Leterrier. The latter’s “Transporter” pedigree made sure there was plenty of rugged action, but Chu’s résumé boasts “Jem and the Holograms,” “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” and more than one film in the “Step Up” franchise. The man knows his cartoons, and that’s a good thing.
